NAS Data Recovery
A NAS is a small server with a RAID inside it, so it can fail in two ways: the box, or the drives. Either way the data is usually still on the disks.
Symptoms
- The NAS will not power on or never finishes starting
- A volume shows as crashed or degraded
- Shared folders have disappeared
- A failed firmware update
- Drives dropped out of the array
- Files deleted or overwritten on the share

How it works
We take the drives out, image each one and rebuild the volume from the images, the same way we handle a RAID array. Send the whole unit if you can, with the drives left in their bays; if you remove them, number them first.
Questions
The NAS is dead but the drives seem fine. Can I put them in a new one?
Sometimes that works, and sometimes the new unit offers to initialize the drives, which erases them. If the data matters, have it recovered first.
Do you need the NAS or only the drives?
The drives hold the data. The unit helps us confirm the configuration.
Book a visit or a pickup
Call us or book online and tell us the make, the model and what is going wrong. For IT support a technician comes to your home or office. For a repair we pick the computer up from your door, fix it at our own workshop in Burbank and bring it back. We have no storefront, so there is nowhere to drop a machine off. Outside our area, you can mail it to us.
