Drobo Data Recovery
Drobo went out of business in 2023, so there is no manufacturer support and no replacement units. The data on a failed Drobo can still be recovered.
Drobo models we recover
- Direct-attached: Drobo 5C, 5D, 5D3, 5Dt, 8D, Drobo Gen 3, Drobo Mini
- Network: Drobo 5N, 5N2, FS, B810n
- Business: B800i, B1200i
How these fail
- BeyondRAID. Drobo uses its own layout, not standard RAID, so ordinary recovery software cannot read the drives.
- Endless restarts. A unit stuck rebooting usually has a hardware fault. The drive pack is often intact.
- Too many drives dropped. A second failure during a rebuild is the classic way a Drobo is lost.
- No replacement. Moving the drive pack to another Drobo is no longer a dependable option.
Before you send it
- Switch the device off and leave it off.
- Do not format, initialize or run repair tools.
- For a NAS, RAID or server, send every drive, numbered by bay or slot.
- Tell us which files or folders matter most.
Questions
Drobo is gone. Is my data stuck?
No. We work from images of the drives, not from the Drobo itself.
What should I move to afterward?
See backup and disaster recovery for options.
Book a visit or a pickup
Call us or book online and tell us the make, the model and what is going wrong. For IT support a technician comes to your home or office. For a repair we pick the computer up from your door, fix it at our own workshop in Burbank and bring it back. We have no storefront, so there is nowhere to drop a machine off. Outside our area, you can mail it to us.
