QNAP Data Recovery
QNAP units are popular with offices that need more than file sharing: virtual machines, surveillance, video editing.
QNAP models we recover
- Two-bay: TS-231P, TS-251D, TS-253D, TS-262, TS-264
- Four-bay: TS-431K, TS-451+, TS-453D, TS-453E, TS-464
- Six-bay and up: TS-653D, TS-664, TS-673A, TS-873A, TVS-672XT, TVS-h874
- Rack: TS-432PXU, TS-832PXU, TS-1232PXU
How these fail
- Storage pool errors. QNAP layers pools and thin volumes on top of RAID. When the pool will not come online, the data is usually still there underneath.
- Ransomware. QNAP units exposed to the internet have been hit by several ransomware campaigns. Disconnect the NAS from the network and call us.
- QuTS hero. These models use ZFS, which needs a different approach from standard QTS.
Before you send it
- Switch the device off and leave it off.
- Do not format, initialize or run repair tools.
- For a NAS, RAID or server, send every drive, numbered by bay or slot.
- Tell us which files or folders matter most.
Questions
My QNAP says the RAID group is not active. What now?
Do not re-create the pool or initialize the disks. Power down and number the drives.
Files on my QNAP were encrypted. Can you help?
Yes. See ransomware response and recovery.
Book a visit or a pickup
Call us or book online and tell us the make, the model and what is going wrong. For IT support a technician comes to your home or office. For a repair we pick the computer up from your door, fix it at our own workshop in Burbank and bring it back. We have no storefront, so there is nowhere to drop a machine off. Outside our area, you can mail it to us.
