Netgear ReadyNAS Data Recovery
Netgear has stopped making ReadyNAS, so units in service are aging with no replacement line behind them.
Netgear ReadyNAS models we recover
- Desktop: ReadyNAS 102, 104, 202, 204, 212, 214, 312, 314, 316, 422, 424, 428, 524X, 526X, 626X, 628X
- Rack: ReadyNAS 2120, 2304, 3138, 3312, 4312
- Older: ReadyNAS Duo, Duo v2, NV+, NV+ v2, Ultra, Pro
How these fail
- X-RAID. Netgear’s automatic expansion sits on standard Linux RAID, so volumes can be rebuilt from drive images.
- Btrfs. ReadyNAS OS 6 uses Btrfs. A “volume is read-only” or “no volumes exist” message does not mean the data is gone.
- The oldest units. The first Duo and NV+ used an unusual file system layout that ordinary tools cannot read.
Before you send it
- Switch the device off and leave it off.
- Do not format, initialize or run repair tools.
- For a NAS, RAID or server, send every drive, numbered by bay or slot.
- Tell us which files or folders matter most.
Questions
My ReadyNAS says no volumes exist. Did it erase everything?
Almost certainly not. Do not create a new volume.
Can I still get a replacement ReadyNAS?
Not new. We recover the data so it can move to current storage.
