Buffalo Data Recovery
Buffalo LinkStation and TeraStation units are common in small offices, often installed years ago and forgotten until they stop.
Buffalo models we recover
- LinkStation: LS210D, LS220D, LS420D, LS510D, LS520D, LS720D
- TeraStation: TS1400D, TS3210DN, TS3410DN, TS3420DN, TS5210DN, TS5410DN, TS5810DN
- External drives: DriveStation, MiniStation
How these fail
- EM mode. A TeraStation or LinkStation that reports “EM” has lost its system software. The data partitions are usually intact.
- Red blinking light with an error code. Note the code; it tells us which drive or part failed.
- XFS volumes. Buffalo uses Linux RAID with the XFS file system, which we rebuild from images of the drives.
Before you send it
- Switch the device off and leave it off.
- Do not format, initialize or run repair tools.
- For a NAS, RAID or server, send every drive, numbered by bay or slot.
- Tell us which files or folders matter most.
Questions
Should I run the firmware updater to fix EM mode?
Not before the data is safe. A wrong step can re-initialize the drives.
It is RAID 1. Can I read one drive on a PC?
Not in Windows. The drive needs to be read as Linux RAID.
Book a visit or a pickup
