Phishing and Email Security
Most attacks on small businesses begin in the inbox: a fake invoice, a password reset nobody asked for, a message that looks like it came from the owner.
What we set up
- Filtering that blocks most malicious mail before delivery
- Two-step sign-in on every mailbox
- Sender authentication on your domain (SPF, DKIM and DMARC), so others cannot easily send mail as you
- Alerts for suspicious sign-ins and forwarding rules
- Old and unused mailboxes closed
Habits that stop most phishing
- Check the sender’s address, not only the name
- Hover over a link before clicking it
- Treat urgency and secrecy as warning signs
- Confirm any change of bank details by phone, on a number you already have
- Never enter a password on a page you reached from an email
If someone clicked
Tell us at once. Changing the password and checking for forwarding rules within the hour usually prevents any damage. Staff who report quickly should be thanked, not blamed.
Questions
Is two-step sign-in really necessary?
Yes. It blocks the great majority of attacks that rely on a stolen password.
Can you check whether our accounts have been compromised?
Yes. We review sign-in history and mailbox rules.
Book a visit or a pickup
Call us or book online and tell us the make, the model and what is going wrong. For IT support a technician comes to your home or office. For a repair we pick the computer up from your door, fix it at our own workshop in Burbank and bring it back. We have no storefront, so there is nowhere to drop a machine off. Outside our area, you can mail it to us.
